10 Coastal Colors That Aren’t Blue

When you think of coastal interiors, you immediately imagine a beach house. You’re by the sea with sand on your feet and the ocean spray in the breeze. The feel is open and airy which blends with the neutral colors and natural finishes that are typically used in coastal design. It’s almost a default that coastal is paired with all shades of blue.

Here at Studio Shaolin, we looooove colors! But, we wanted to offer a spin on this trend with pops of color that have coastal feels yet deter from using the obvious choice of blue. Expand your palette and consider some of these fun colors when styling your spaces.

In our latest project, we used pops of colors to bring some life to this bedroom. Colors like Faint Coral can be integrated into pillows, while the throw is a vibrant mix of tans, pinks, and oranges. This immediately brings a dash of intensity to balance the jute rug and natural elements of the nightstand. A fun and easy way to incorporate colors like Dressy Rose or Ash Violet are in your accents!

How cute is this guy snuggled up?! We chose Caen Stone and Bagel as furniture colors that can pair well with the natural elements commonly used in coastal decor. Dial down to muted oranges and tans like our selections, or add some orange pigment to your sofa to make a statement in any home.

As much as we love wallpapers, we definitely suggest sticking to a solid neutral color when it comes to your walls… especially if you’re going heavier on the decor. @thewhiteshome_ really nailed the coastal vibe with a wall color similar to Toque White. Colors like Nearly Peach and Accessible Beige are used in the bedding but we absolutely don’t object to painting it on your walls either.

Go bold! If the rest of your home has an open and airy feel, don’t shy away from bolder colors for cabinets. We love Surf Green which encapsulates the green of our Hawaiian waters, but this kitchen in a color similar to Daydream is absolutely stunning. Don’t even get us started on the terrazzo!
