Design Assistant

Studio Shaolin is a Kailua-based interior design firm specializing in residential designs and renovation. We are looking for a capable and motivated Design Assistant to join our team.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, personable, intelligent, logical, and hard-working. Passion for maintaining efficiency and accuracy in a creative environment, and building a brand is key.  The ideal candidate loves design, multi-tasking and is able to roll with the punches.

The Design Assistant will be the right hand to our Junior Designer, and will support and participate in creating functionally beautiful spaces for design clients, from start to finish. 

This position is based out of our Kailua store and applicants must have reliable transportation and be available to work from the store 1-2 days a week, including one weekend day.


  • Design

    • Providing administrative support to CEO and Junior Designer

    • Requesting quotes from vendors

    • Assisting with miscellaneous project related design tasks

    • Assist with design presentation prep - decks, samples, sourcing

    • Maintaining and organizing office sample library, project binders, project materials

    • Running errands

    Ordering

    • Vendor maintenance (changing/updating account info)

    • Tracking via Studio Designer and shipping grid

    • Damages/claims

    • Listing and coordinating resales

    Installations

    • Overseeing installs onsite

    • Signing off and ensuring everything is delivered

    • Styling and management of photoshoots

    Store

    • Customer service and inventory control

    • Assisting with restocking and merchandising products

    • Assist with store outreach, marketing and social media efforts

    • Assist with podcast recording and file management

  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Interior Design or related field

    • Working knowledge of Studio Designer, Canva, Slack and Google Drive, a plus

    • Must have reliable WIFI and computer access (preferably Mac)

    • Self-starter, autonomy and able to work independently and in a team

    • Strong attention to detail

    • Excellent people management skills and team player

    • Enthusiastic, positive, whatever-it-takes attitude

    • Ability to multitask in fast-paced environment

    • Excellent problem solving skills and resourcefulness

    • Strong verbal, writing, and listening skills with experience managing client and vendor relations

    • Must maintain a high level of integrity and professionalism 

    • Be physically able to perform various installation project requirements such as lifting, standing for long periods, using a ladder, installing small artwork, styling and other physical duties
